Ameriflight's "12 Seconds to History"

February 16, 2006 - So there I was this morning, working away on my helicopter, when a Beech C-99 operated by my former employer Ameriflight lands and taxis past...and what a treat, since this is the ex-Air Vegas Centennial of Flight commemorative plane. Ameriflight, headquartered in Burbank, is the largest Part 135 air carrier in the US. I spent almost 10 memorable years in QC there...their planes are usually ugly, but they are well maintained under the cowlings, and the company is a great one to work for. AMF operates the only scheduled air carrier service into Mojave, but alas, you can't fly them unless you're a UPS package with a red label on you...which explains why they can get away with ugly planes...and they don't have to serve peanuts, either.

The nose art reads "12 Seconds to History 1903 - 2003". Too bad the rest of the paint was marred by the installation of AMF's cargo door. UPS flights in the C99 typically bulk out before they gross out, hence the belly pod.
